How AI Chat Works
The AI chat assistant helps you translate trading ideas into formal, testable strategies. It works in a split-screen interface alongside the strategy configurator, with real-time synchronization between your words and the strategy form.
Split-Screen Interface
When you open Create Backtest, the screen splits into two panels:
- Left panel — Strategy configurator (form with all parameters)
- Right panel — AI chat assistant
Everything the AI suggests automatically updates the form on the left. Everything you change in the form is visible to the AI.
How the Conversation Works
Starting a New Strategy
When the configurator is empty, the AI offers a guided wizard with 6 steps:
- Market type — "What market are you interested in? Crypto, Forex, or Stocks?"
- Instrument — "Which instrument? For example, BTC/USDT"
- Entry idea — "Describe your entry conditions in plain language"
- Exit strategy — "How should the strategy exit? Fixed SL/TP, trailing, or signal-based?"
- Risk profile — "Conservative, Moderate, or Aggressive?"
- Confirmation — "Here's the summary. Ready to run?"
You can skip the wizard and describe everything at once:
"Create a long BTC/USDT strategy on 1h. Enter when RSI < 30 and MACD crosses above signal. Stop-loss 2%, take-profit 5%."
Modifying an Existing Strategy
If the form already has values, the AI sees them and can modify specific fields:
"Change the timeframe to 4h and add a trailing stop at 1.5%"
The AI will update only the fields you mention without touching the rest.
Real-Time Config Updates
When the AI responds, it includes config_updates — structured changes that automatically apply to the form. You'll see fields update with a smooth animation as the AI processes your request.
Two-Way Synchronization
The configurator and AI chat share the same source of truth:
- You type in chat → AI updates the form
- You change the form → AI sees the updated values
- The form is always the definitive state of the strategy
Language Support
The AI responds in the same language you use:
- Write in English → AI responds in English
- Write in Russian → AI responds in Russian
- Write in Ukrainian → AI responds in Ukrainian
Conversation Context
Each backtest has its own conversation. The AI remembers:
- All previous messages in the current session
- Current form values
- Available market data range for the selected instrument
- Your subscription tier and available features
Important: Starting a new backtest creates a fresh conversation. The AI does not remember strategies from other backtests.
Tips for Better Results
- Be specific — "RSI below 30" is better than "when the market is oversold"
- Use indicator names — the AI knows all 245+ indicators by name
- Mention values — "EMA 20 crosses above EMA 50" not "when fast EMA crosses slow EMA"
- One change at a time — complex requests may miss details; break them up
- Review the form — always verify the left panel after AI updates
FAQ
Q: Does the AI generate strategies for me? A: No. The AI only formalizes YOUR ideas into testable configurations. It does not recommend strategies or predict performance.
Q: Can I use the AI on the Free plan? A: Yes, with a limited monthly budget (~100 messages). Pro and above have higher limits.
