AI Doesn't Understand My Request

The AI assistant in StratBase.ai translates your trading ideas into formal strategy configurations. Here's how to get the best results.

• AI acts as a translator, not an advisor
• It converts natural language descriptions into backtest configurations
• It never gives trading recommendations or generates strategies
• It uses the right panel (chat) to update the left panel (configurator)

AI Doesn't Apply My Changes

Problem: You describe a change but the configurator doesn't update.

Solutions:

1. Be specific: say "Set RSI period to 21" instead of "make RSI longer"
2. Reference the exact field: "Change take profit to 3%" not "increase profit target"
3. One change at a time works better than multiple changes in one message

AI Doesn't Understand the Indicator

Problem: AI doesn't recognize your indicator name.

Solutions:

• Use the official indicator name from the platform (e.g., "Bollinger Bands" not "BB")
• Check the indicator list for exact names
• Describe what the indicator does: "Add an indicator that measures 14-period momentum"

AI Gives Generic Responses

Problem: AI responds with generic text instead of updating the config.

Solutions:

• Start with a clear action verb: "Add", "Set", "Change", "Remove"
• Include specific values: numbers, timeframes, comparisons
• Example: "Add RSI(14) cross above 30 as an entry condition"

AI Sets Wrong Values

Problem: AI applies the change but with incorrect values.

Solutions:

• Correct it: "No, change RSI period to 14, not 7"
• AI will apologize and fix the value
• Check the configurator after each AI response

Good Prompts

• "Add SMA(50) crossing above SMA(200) as entry condition"
• "Set stop loss to 2% and take profit to 6%"
• "Change timeframe to 4 hours"
• "Add Bollinger Bands with period 20, deviation 2, and entry when price crosses below lower band"

Poor Prompts

• "Make it better" — too vague
• "What should I do?" — AI doesn't give advice
• "Is this strategy profitable?" — AI doesn't predict outcomes
• "Show me a good strategy" — AI doesn't generate strategies

Q: Can I undo an AI change? A: Yes, the configurator has an undo history. You can also manually revert any field.
