Funding Rate Tracker
Funding Rate Tracker
The Funding Rate Tracker monitors real-time perpetual futures funding rates across Binance and Bybit. Funding rates reflect the balance between long and short positions and are a key indicator of market sentiment.
What Is Funding Rate?
Funding rate is a periodic payment exchanged between long and short traders on perpetual futures contracts. It keeps the perpetual price anchored to the spot price:
- Positive funding → Longs pay shorts (market is bullish / overleveraged long)
- Negative funding → Shorts pay longs (market is bearish / overleveraged short)
- Near zero → Balanced market
Funding is collected 3 times daily at UTC 00:00, 08:00, and 16:00.
Table Columns
| Column | Description | |--------|-------------| | Rank | Position in sorted list | | Symbol | Trading pair (e.g., BTCUSDT) | | Exchange | Binance or Bybit | | Funding Rate | Current rate (e.g., 0.01% = 0.0001) | | Annualized Rate | Rate × 3 × 365 (e.g., 0.01% → 10.95%/year) | | Mark Price | Current mark price | | Next Funding | Time until next payment | | Predicted Rate | Forecast for next period (if available) | | OI Value (USD) | Open interest in USD | | Volume 24h | 24-hour trading volume |
Understanding Annualized Rate
The annualized rate helps compare funding costs across timeframes:
Annualized = Funding Rate × 3 (per day) × 365 (days) × 100 (to %)
| Funding Rate | Annualized | Interpretation | |-------------|------------|----------------| | 0.01% | 10.95% | Normal | | 0.05% | 54.75% | Elevated — strong directional bias | | 0.10% | 109.5% | Extreme — reversal risk high | | -0.01% | -10.95% | Normal bearish |
Sorting & Filtering
Sort the table by:
- Funding Rate (default) — by absolute value, highest first
- Annualized Rate — by yearly equivalent
- Mark Price — by current price
- Symbol — alphabetically
Filter by exchange (Binance, Bybit, or both) and search by symbol name.

Alert Set Parameters
| Parameter | Range | Default | |-----------|-------|---------| | Name | 1–100 characters | — | | Exchanges | Binance, Bybit, or all | All | | Threshold Rate | > 0%, ≤ 10% | 0.1% | | Direction | Both / Positive / Negative | Both | | Top N | Limit to top N symbols | 20 | | Min listing days | 0–365 | 0 | | Daily limit | 1–10 | 5 |
Tip: Set direction to "Negative" to specifically track extreme short sentiment — these often precede short squeezes.
Trading Strategies Using Funding
Common approaches:
- Funding arbitrage — go long on spot, short on perp when positive funding is extreme (collect funding)
- Sentiment confirmation — high positive funding + rising OI may signal a crowded long trade
- Reversal signal — extreme funding rates (>0.1%) often precede sharp corrections
FAQ
Q: What is a "normal" funding rate? A: For BTC/ETH, 0.005%–0.015% is typical. Rates above 0.05% or below -0.03% are considered elevated.
Q: How often is funding data updated? A: Every few minutes from both exchanges. Cached for fast display with minimal delay.
Q: Can I track historical funding rates? A: Historical funding data is stored in the database. The tracker shows current rates; for historical analysis, use the funding rate indicator in backtests.
