Privacy Levels
StratBase.ai offers three visibility levels for your backtests: Public, Private, and Confidential. Each level controls who can see your strategy configuration, results, and whether it appears in the catalog.

Public
The default visibility level, available on all subscription tiers:
- Backtest appears in the Strategy Catalog
- Anyone can view full configuration and results (no login required)
- Anyone can clone the strategy
- Engagement metrics (likes, views) are fully visible
- Clone count is displayed
Best for: Building reputation, sharing research, gaining followers.
Private
Available exclusively on the Private tier ($99/mo):
- Backtest does NOT appear in the catalog
- Only the owner and explicitly approved users can view it
- Others can request access via the Access Request system
- Config details are hidden until access is granted
- Clone count is hidden from non-owners
Best for: Sharing selectively with trusted community members or clients.
Confidential
The highest privacy level, also on the Private tier:
- Completely hidden from all other users
- Does not appear in catalog, profile, or any public listing
- No access request system — only the owner can see it
- Cannot be cloned by anyone
Best for: Experimental strategies, proprietary research, personal testing.

Q: Do private backtests count toward badges and XP? A: Yes — all backtests contribute to your progress regardless of visibility.
Q: Can I make a public backtest private later? A: Visibility is set at creation time. Clone the backtest with different visibility to change it.
Q: If someone already cloned my public strategy and I make a new version private, does the clone stay public? A: Yes — clones are independent backtests. The clone owner controls their own visibility settings.
